Rapper BG will face at least eight years in federal prison for possession of a firearm and witness tampering. BG, born Christopher Dorsey, was arrested in November of 2009 in a stolen rental vehicle that contained three stolen loaded guns and two extended clips.

BG is facing the lengthy sentence, after he declined an agreement with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to the charges against him in December of 2011. To make the situation worse for the rapper, prosecutors are pushing for a stiffer sentence. According to the New Orleans Times Picayune, BG was supposed to be sentenced earlier this month, but prosecutors delayed the hearing, because they believe he should receive a longer sentence.

The hearing was also delayed due to new information about the rapper being shared by federal prosecutors in Illinois. The details about the information on BG in Illinois have yet to be revealed. BG was once a member of hip-hop group The Hot Boys, which featured Lil Wayne, Young Turk, and Juvenile, faces at least 8 to 10 years in prison when he is sentenced on April 25.

Just months after participating in a remembrance ceremony marking the 10-year anniversary of 9-11, a man who claimed to be a New York City firefighter on that fateful day has admitted to being a fraud.

Jordan Liflander admitted to 7 On Your Side's Tom Crabtree that he lied about being a member of the Fire Department New York. Liflander is now apologizing for wearing a firefighter’s dress uniform and displaying a F-D-N-Y firefighter's helmet during a ceremony at Wofford College last September 11 to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of the terrorist attack.

Liflander was the keynote speaker at the event in which thousands of people attended. 17 YEAR OLD SPARTANBURG GOON GETS HIT WITH 30 YEARS FOR MURDER

A Spartanburg teen was sentenced to 30-years in prison for the 2010 shooting death of Terrico L. Hull. James Q. Mullins, 17, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and unlawful possession of a pistol by a person under 21 years of age.

The shooting happened just before 6 pm at a residence at 227 Short Hill Street. Captain Randy Hardy of Spartanburg Public Safety says that deputies responded to the residence after receiving reports of a person shot. When they arrived on scene, they found a man, identified as 25-year old Terrico Letrell Hull, of 501 Franklin Street, lying in the middle of the road, and the suspect had fled the scene.

A short time later, Spartanburg Public Safety Deputies and Investigators managed to obtain the suspect's identity from a witness and located the man on Vernon Street, just a short distance from where the shooting occured. The suspect was taken into custody and the gun was recovered.

Hardy says that a witness stated that he observed two men arguing in a driveway at the residence, when Hull approached the suspect and a shot was fired. Hull sustained a gunshot wound to the stomach area and had to be transported to Spartanburg Regional Hospital where he later sucumbed to his injuries.

“We wanted to hold James Mullins accountable for his dangerous actions without having to expose family to the stress and unpredictability of a trial,” Assistant Solicitor Tony Leibert said. “It is a very good outcome. James Mullins has a long time behind bars to think about the consequences of his actions.”

Oakland gangsta rapper Philthy Rich says cops don’t have any dirt on him. The artist, 29-year-old Philip Beasely, has accused San Francisco cops of slandering his reputation with bogus allegations after he was arrested on suspicion of driving a stolen 2011 Bentley early Monday. Philthy expects his name will be cleared when police discover the swanky black Bentley is legally his. He was detained after his performance at the Rock-it Room club at 406 Clement St. about 1:30 a.m., police said.

“I bought the car,” Philthy told The San Francisco Examiner on Tuesday. “The car was not stolen. I got the keys and the registration to the car.” However, after a preliminary review of the case, prosecutors said Tuesday they plan to move forward with felony charges against Philthy of unlawfully driving or taking a vehicle and receipt of stolen property. The former charge packs a prison sentence of up to three years, Assistant District Attorney Omid Talai said Tuesday. Philthy is due in court this week. “I just feel like I was targeted for no reason,” the rapper said. “They didn’t find any guns, any drugs, nothing. I feel like they’re just saying my car is stolen.”

Two more people who police have said were at the club that night — including Philthy’s promoter, Samuel Burns, 33, of Vallejo — were arrested in separate incidents. Burns was busted for outstanding warrants after cops detained him on his way to the show for allegedly not wearing a seat belt as the passenger of a car. Philthy has been pleading his innocence to his thousands of Twitter followers. In one post, he vowed to take legal action against police for “slandering my name.” “With a million cars on the block, why would they run my license plate?” Philthy said, adding that cops had been inside the club before his arrest.

Police denied Philthy or his crew were targeted and say officers often conduct checks of vehicles they pass on the street. The rapper, who is on felony probation for firearms possession, needs to take up his case with the Las Vegas Police Department, which listed the Bentley as stolen, police Officer Albie Esparza said. Allen Iverson has reportedly gone from 11-time NBA all-star to financial deadbeat. The Philadelphia 76ers icon was recently ordered to pay over $860,000 to a jeweler, and he couldn't cut a check.

A Georgia judge has ordered the seizing of Iverson's bank account, so the relatively little money he has left will be garnished, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer.

This isn't just another formerly famous athlete blowing a ton of cash. Iverson was among the biggest superstars in the NBA, earning more than $154 million during a professional career that began back in 1996. (This doesn't include endorsement money and other business deals.)

How did Iverson lose so much?

Loyal to his friends from a youth spent in Virginia, Iverson traveled with one of the biggest posses in professional sports. Bill Lyon of the Philadelphia Inquirer says the group has as many as 50 people for some Sixers home games. "A.I." took a hair stylist on the road with him and also loved to buy jewelry for himself and his beloved mother, Ann Iverson.

Iverson felt he owed his childhood friends from the old neighborhood because "They made me." The feeling was, without them protecting him from the mean streets, he would have never made it to the NBA.

Apparently they also unmade him.

Despite rumored interest from the Lakers, Iverson is more likely to find playing time and (more importantly) cash outside the U.S. in a place like Puerto Rico.

CARPET SHARK CAUGHT EATING ANOTHER SHARK WHOLE

National Geographic has released this soon-to-be classic photograph of one shark eating another shark whole.

The photo comes from Daniela Ceccarelli, of Australia's Research Council Center of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies. Ceccarelli was working with fellow researcher David Williamson on conducting a "fish census" off Great Keppel Island, part of the country's Great Barrier Reef. That's when Ceccarelli thought she spotted a brown-banded bamboo shark hanging out near the ocean's floor.

"The first thing that caught my eye was the almost translucent white of the bamboo shark," Ceccarelli told National Geographic in an email. Instead, as Ceccarelli moved in for a closer look she noticed a camouflaged wobbegong shark emerging from seclusion with the same bamboo shark partially wedged inside its jaws.

"It became clear that the head of the bamboo shark was hidden in its mouth," she said. "The bamboo shark was motionless and definitely dead."

As the New Scientist explains, Wobbegongs, aka carpet sharks, are silent predators, waiting at the bottom of the ocean floor for their pray to pass by. And as stunning as this photo may be, it's not uncommon for Wobbegongs to devour such large meals. Like several kinds of snakes, the Wobbegong has a dislocating jaw and rearward-pointing teeth that help it consume disproportionately large prey.

Although Wobbegongs bite humans with some regularity, these usually aren't actual attacks where the shark is hunting for prey. Rather, these bites tend to be more of a defensive reflex after the shark itself has been assaulted, usually by someone unintentionally stepping on it.

While shark attacks were down in the U.S. last year, deaths from shark bites more than doubled worldwide with 12 reported deaths all happening outside of the U.S. However, Florida still led the overall national count for most attacks, with 11 of the 29 attacks reported inside the U.S.

"We had a number of fatalities in essentially out-of-the-way places, where there's not the same quantity and quality of medical attention readily available," George Burgess, director of the Shark Attack File, told Gannett. "They also don't have histories of shark attacks in these regions, so there are not contingency plans in effect like there are in places such as Florida."

Ronald "Ra Diggs" Herron was indicted on three murder counts Monday, including one he allegedly tweeted about. According to the New York Daily News, Herron is charged in the 2001 death of Frederick Brooks, & the slayings of Richard Russo in 2008 and Victor Zapata in 2009. Prosecutors had attempted to try Herron for Brooks's death previously, but witnesses reportedly declined to testify against him. The Daily News reports that prosecutors say Herron later tweeted about beating the rap, posting on the social media site that he "beat a body."

Herron has been behind bars since 2010 when he was one of nine people arrested and charged with running a crack and heroin ring out of the Gowanus Houses in Brooklyn. "Ronald Herron and his gang terrorized a Brooklyn community for more than a decade and he temporarily got away with murder by threatening and intimidating witnesses only to return to the streets of Brooklyn to kill and kill again," Brooklyn U.S. Attorney Loretta Lynch said.

The Laurens County Sheriff's Office says they've arrested and charged a Gray Court man with three counts of attempted murder. Doane Jerel Allen, 32, has also been charged with discharging a firearm into a dwelling and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Officials say the incident happened on December 14 when deputies responded to a home in Laurens where Allen fired numerous shots into a residence.Allen is being held at the Johnson Detention Center. He is awaiting a bond hearing.
